The 10 Hooks That Stopped 30,000 Thumbs

We scored 422 real posts from seven AI creators. The winners weren't bigger accounts. They had ten specific opening moves and a reason to comment. Here's all ten.

Last week I had my team pull the last 60 posts from seven of the biggest AI creators on Instagram. 422 posts, every one scored against that account's own normal.

The winners weren't the biggest accounts. One post did 164 times that guy's usual. Another pulled 52,000 comments. When we read the openings side by side, the same ten moves kept showing up. The job-killer. The free version of the expensive thing. Show the dashboard, don't describe it.

This skill is those ten moves, turned into a tool. It never borrows their words. It borrows what made the words work, and writes yours.

The three levels

Level 1 · Manual

Write the first line last, after the post is done, using whatever comes to mind. It's how most people open, and it's why most posts die in the first second.

Level 2 · AI + connectors

Give the skill your topic and your real angle, get three hooks from proven mechanics, run the first-three-words test, and pair each with its comment keyword.

Level 3 · Agents on schedule

Every idea on your content board gets hook variations generated and scored before you film, and the winners' patterns feed back into the next batch. That's how our idea engine runs.

Connectors for this guide: No connectors required — this one runs on your material. Pairs with the comment-gate funnel guide for the keyword mechanic.

The free skill

It takes your topic and your real angle, picks the highest-ceiling mechanic for it, writes three variations with every placeholder filled by a real specific, runs the first-three-words test, and attaches the comment keyword that turns a view into a lead.

How to use it: copy the whole thing, paste it into Claude (or save it as a skill file if you use Claude Code), and say “give me a hook for”. It walks you through the rest. Works with any AI that can read your data.

# Hooks That Stop the Scroll

The first line decides everything. Across 422 posts from seven AI/business creators, the
posts that beat their own channel by 10x–160x didn't have better audiences — they had
better first lines and a reason to comment. This skill writes the first line. The
mechanics below are what the data showed; the words are always yours.

## Step 1: Get the topic and the angle

You need the topic and ONE of these angles. If the angle is missing, ask — never invent:
- A result or number the creator actually earned
- A strong opinion, a thing they'd argue about
- A free/cheaper way to do an expensive thing
- Something the viewer is doing wrong without knowing
- A tool, dashboard, or system they can show on screen
- Something hidden, leaked, or rarely explained

## Step 2: Pick the mechanic (ranked by what over-performed)

1. **Job-killer.** A role or task just became obsolete, and here's the replacement.
Works because obsolescence is the sharpest fear in business right now.
2. **Free alternative to the paid thing.** "Most people still pay for X. Here's the free way."
Specific numbers make it: name the price they're paying and the thing that replaces it.
3. **Dashboard reveal.** Open on the screen, not on your face: "This runs my whole business."
Visual proof first; explanation second. Requires something real to show.
4. **The hidden setting.** A privacy exposure or a buried feature nobody turned on.
Safety hooks get shared instantly; setup hooks cure "where do I even start."
5. **Curated number.** "Only 5 of the 47 matter." Curation removes decision paralysis.
6. **You got lied to.** Contrarian authority: "I ran ads at [place]. The best copy comes
from [unexpected source]." Needs real standing to say it.
7. **Absurd analogy.** A meme-tier comparison for a technical thing. Reach machine, lower
engagement depth — use for awareness, not for lead capture.
8. **Leaked / secret.** "Someone just leaked…" Insider access. Use only when true.
9. **Number + urgency.** "Set this up in one day." "Don't do X until you've done these 5."
10. **Countdown / FOMO.** "If you sleep on this for six months…" Powerful, and it burns out
    if used more than occasionally.

Rule: when the creator has a real number or a real result, mechanics 1, 2, and 3 outrank
everything. When they have an opinion, 6. Never default to 9 or 10 just because they're easy.

## Step 3: Write three variations

Three hooks from at least two different mechanics. Every placeholder filled with a real
specific from the creator's material — a number, a name, a tool, a moment. A hook with a
generic fill ("many businesses", "a lot of money") fails automatically.

## Step 4: The first-three-words test

Read only the first three words of each. Do they carry surprise, a number, a threat, or a
name? "Here's how I" fails. "Website designers are" passes. "Most people still" passes.
"I tested 47" passes. Cut every filler word in front of the strongest word.

## Step 5: Pair it with the comment gate

The over-performers almost all ended with a keyword: "Comment [WORD] and I'll send it."
For every hook, propose the one-word keyword and the exact thing they'd receive. A hook
without a deliverable is a view; a hook with one is a lead.

## Step 6: Return

The strongest hook, its mechanic, the keyword, and the two alternates. If a hook makes a
claim the creator hasn't given you evidence for, flag it — never ship a hook that the
video can't cash.

## Never

- No "In today's world", no "Let me tell you", no "Are you ready to".
- No stacked hooks. One idea, one line.
- No borrowed sentences from other creators. Mechanics are shared; words are not.

Want your whole content system built this way?

Hooks are one piece. Inside the AI CEO Lab I teach the full content machine — ideas, hooks, scripts, edits, publishing — run by agents. Or we build it for your brand.

Pick a side.

Most people read this and forget it by Friday.

The other kind joins the Community. They get a new build every single day and stop needing free guides, because they're too busy running actual systems.

Already past the basics? Same room. Go deeper, trade builds with people who are actually shipping, and see what's working in AI right now, not last year.

This is where the challenge lives.
